David Watson is a senior UK cultural leader who has worked with many of the nation’s leading arts, heritage, and entertainment organisations, contributing to evolution of the sector, and some of the most significant moments in the UK’s cultural calendar.

In 2023, he devised and launched the Before the Applause podcast, now streamed by thousands of listeners in over 130 cities across 34 countries.

David is currently interim Executive Director (& Joint CEO) of National Dance Company Wales. He recently served as Executive Director of Audiences & Media at National Museums Liverpool. Before that, he was Director of Brand & Advocacy at Birmingham Royal Ballet. He was Head of Digital / Editor-in-Chief for Hull UK City of Culture 2017 and has also held roles at English National Ballet, London 2012 Ceremonies, the Royal Opera House, and Rambert.
